These products are only available from a dermatologist and include a wide array of toners, peels, cleansers, moisturizers, sunscreen and other products. Medical Grade Facial

As we age, the rate at which our skin sheds and replenishes itself slows down. This leaves a layer of dead cells on the surface of the skin, contributing to an aged appearance. A deep exfoliation is performed to remove the damaged surface layer and unclog pores, revealing younger, healthier skin underneath. Our one hour facial begins with a deep, thorough cleansing of the skin and analysis of each patient’s individual skin needs. Treatment is customized to address these issues and provide the most successful results.

Extractions may be performed to remove clogged pores, oil and blackheads. Our facials can treat acne prone skin, hydrate dehydrated skin and calm irritated or sensitive skin using gentle yet effective techniques. Facials help to reduce the signs of aging and improve overall skin clarity and texture.

DermaSweep™ MD Microdermabrasion Treatment

The DermaSweep Microdermabrasion procedure involves the use of a multi-tip wand that is moved across the skin of the targeted area to remove the outermost layer of skin. This dead layer of skin is vacuumed away safely and efficiently to produce smoother, younger-looking skin underneath. The vacuum also stimulates blood flow and cleans the pores to stimulate collagen production for skin that looks and feels firmer and more toned. DermaSweep is a safe, painless procedure performed with no need for anesthesia.

This treatment is ideal for all skin types and has nine different exfoliation options to ensure that each patient receives treatment that is customized for their individual skin needs and goals.

Ultrasound Facials

Ultrasound facials are performed using a combination of ultrasound and electrical therapy to repair and rejuvenate the skin. By increasing blood flow to the surface of the skin, these ultrasonic treatments stimulate the production of collagen, and as a result reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps to improve circulation and promotes lymphatic drainage. This type of treatment has been referred to as a "fitness program for the face", as it gently massages the facial muscles to return them back to a more youthful look and feel.

Ultrasound facials at Virginia Dermatology are performed with Smart Sound Gel, which consists of hyaluronic acid, powerful anti-oxidants and calming anti-inflammatory agents, and is used to penetrate the deep layers of skin and aid in the rejuvenation process. This high performance gel helps keep the skin hydrated and also treats unwanted signs of aging such as pigmentation, loss of elasticity and protein destruction. It is applied to the skin using heat energy to produce the most effective results.
